The dash fan was introduced in '71, but it only pushes cold outside air from in front of the windshield. I've never seen a heat exchanger that rusted thru into the inside of the heated air space. They made that pipe thick enough that this never becomes a problem. The problems always occur at the ends, at the joint to the muffler. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
