I think you need to investigate why your paint system is showing problems, as there are plenty of cars out there on the road without covers that don't have this problem. If the word 'cancer' describes the clear lacquer peeling or something, can I ask if it's a respray or the original metallic paint? I suspect the problem is more likely a tired and thinned clear layer (if an original metallic finish) or incompatability in the colour and clear paints or an incorrect procedure when painting (if a respray).
