Now if the exhaust were off, then I might run a 8 X 1.25mm die over the threads and pray that it would have enough thread left to grab and hold. Sometimes it pays to remove more than you need to, just to make the job easier to do. The drawback to that is that it might cause another stud or 2 to break while removing it. :O This is part of that flip a coin and fix what you need, or fix the entire thing, thinking you might be back in there again someday. :O It's the owners call.
