Once you take them off the car, the standard fluid rapidly soaks up moisture and becomes corrosive. They'll be ruined in a fairly short time. > What is the danger of DOT-5 touching DOT-3 or 4 ? No real danger. It's just that the benefit of the DoT-5 depends on the degree to which you manage to get rid of the D0T-3/4. It just doesn't make sense to put this much money and effort into the job and then slip up on the fluid installation. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
