I just did this. I used front end forks to pop them loose. Sometimes I just left the nut on and hit on them and they just pooped loose. Either way it didn't take much force. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rich & Nicole (Daughter), Orange County, CA 70/71 SquareBack 1600 FI MT http://community.webshots.com/user/schlegelr ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----Original Message----- From: Jim Showker [mailto:jshowker@comcast.net] Sent: Monday, May 09, 2005 9:33 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] Tie rod ends and ball joints Are tie rod ends and ball joints standard vw parts, like on a type 1? Are they different after the style change in '70? Is there a tool available to pop the tie rod ends loose or will a small bearing puller work? and on a different subject-- Is front and rear window rubber available that allows retention of the stock metal trim pieces? questions, questions, this is a great list.
