My first guess was that this was a vac modulator problem, but your comment makes me wonder if it might have been this way ever since it was rebuilt. This might be some darksider's idea of a good idea. ;-) I wonder if the valve body might have been modified. Does anyone recall ever seeing special shift kits for these transmissions? I'm really not comfortable inside an AT so I don't know what might have been changed or what the effect might be. OTOH, even if the vac modulator is okay, many people don't realize that they need to be adjusted after installation. Doing this takes some care and a pressure gauge. If it's misadjusted, the shift speeds will be offset, either high or low. I suppose it's also possible that the wrong VM is installed. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
