I have a 69 fastback but the passenger door is very rusty and I was offered
a free 72 door as a replacement. I just wondered if I will have trouble
making the switch (in terms of hinges and fitting, etc.) >>

I believe they are basically the same. If there is any difference, it'll be
the armrest mounting bracket set up. I know 73's used 3 plastic plugs and
screws, that the armrest attached to the door with, but I'm not sure if some later
72's used them also. The 68 to 71 cars used a tab that the armrest slipped
over, and the armrest was bolted to the door panel. I had to drill the spot welds
out to use the tabs on my 65 Notch, since my 65 used an entirely different
armrest set up. The big thing you need to look at is the hinges. What you want
for your Fastback is the 2 bolt hinges. The only reason I'm mentioning this, is
because the Notch used 3 bolt hinges until the end of production in 1973.
These doors won't interchange. I hope this helps.
