Not true at all....The unit we sell can have just the VR replaced by 
themselves if needed. Also the cost of the internal VR is about 15-25, but I 
would say unless the alternator is installed backwards they VR will not need 
a replacement for many years.

We have been told by our supplier that the generators  on the market are 
indeed "NEW" not rebuilds, this is why a core is no longer needed when we do 
purchase them [at least here in our part of the country], since it is 
completely new ...cores are not required any more.


"Have you been using Genuine Bosch VRs?"......Yes......I try to use all 
German parts I can [if avail]..I have seen many Bosch VR go south ....But 
who is to say as no one has the same results with many of these parts

Ok true you can ......but does everyone want to ? I think that is up to the 
owner.

Also on the topic of brushes...the new brushes on the market are poor....I 
have seen them need to be replaced to often, add a large radio...and it will 
eat them.

but If the alternator does need to be serviced, then it can be rebuilt for 
50-85 dollars at most rebuild shops...so yes I would say that it does fall 
into the 60.00 catagory

Yes I have, and that is why you need to pay attention to what you are 
doing...period
