Re: [T3] Squareback Dims Wanted
<x-flowed>In response to Jim's points:
1) so much rust that metal has been removed weakening the bar.
I took 'em apart so that I could get in there and make sure there was no
rust (particularly the front axle) - There was no serious rust
2) a crack in the bar that means that it can twist a lot at that one point.
The bars were ok before the car came to pieces. They also went back on the
correct side.
3) incorrect bar of smaller diameter on one side
I took them out, stored them and put them back, so unlikely
I'll measure my wheel arch dims and post them up. From memory, (standing at
the back of the car and looking forwards), the left hand side is just over
an inch higher than the right at the back and front. Another perhaps more
worrying thing is that the rear left hand wheel seems to have more camber
than the other side, the wheel tucks in towards the top of the car, almost
like a lowered swing axle (this is a 1972, IRS). I could make sense of this
if the left hand side was the lowest, but how can the wheel do that and
still be an inch higher than the right?
My car stradles the dark and light sides. Its basically stock, but with a
1776cc engine disguised as stock. Perhaps the right hand side is dark and
the left is light? I don't want to lower it as the oil cooler and deep sump
look low enough already.
Russ - thanks for the angle tool offer, but I'm UK based, so I guess the
deposit would be quite high!
