We already have two "drinkholders"! Re: [T3] Yet another creation for your car....

<x-flowed>Came across the old post below by chance.... I've been using the elasticized door pockets in my '68 squareback as "drinkholders" since long before most cars had the modern kind, and prefer them.

The advantages are as follows:
- the pockets fit virtually any size of drink, whether in a can, bottle, or a cup with a lid (I haven't been brave enough to use open cups, wouldn't in a dashboard holder either).
- Using the pockets doesn't block anything on the dash -- like radio, heater controls, etc.-- as so many modern cupholders do.
- When they hand you a drink at the drive thru, there's no fumbling to open the cupholder or hitting dashboard controls by mistake; the pocket's always there.

I put the drink at the forward end of the pocket, so it doesn't shift even with emergency braking.
Haven't had a spill yet.

A drinkholder add-on is in the works, Martin and I
 started to
prototype it today. I'm sure he'll keep y'all
 updated on it.

See if you can work in those "auto adjusting" cup holder things. You know, the ones on modern cars that can fit a 12 oz. can or a Super Double Big Gulp (tm). That would be the shiznit.
