Jim=> I am located in Campbell, California. I live right on the edge of San Jose. Steven=> The engine fan is, I believe, out of balance. I had scheduled to have it repaired when this happened. =>This hammering can make things worse fast, but it comes before spinning, seizing or throwing anything. I'm still guessing that the knocking noise is not the happy engine gnomes saying hi. If I understand what you're telling me, it appears that the engine needs to be rebuilt. Even if it's running at the moment it won't be for long. Or is there some way to repair what's causing the knocking noise? Trevor=> poor Donald. That was the similar chant going on in my car. "Just get me home and I'll figure out what's wrong with you onc the sun comes up", "Good Little car you can make it, just a little further". This is the engine from my 72 that went squish. It ran not perfect but really well before it was swapped into the 71. I'm a poor college kid and I worry that I will not be able to repair my little car.
