Ah, such joy. ;-) I assume you've already discovered those little creases topsides of the upper heat exchangers that will lead a socket and extension to exactly the right spot for the upper nuts. For the lower nuts I find that I can just barely slip a nice thin box end wrench on there, working from below and outside. It's a tight fit, but it works and that nut doesn't have to turn very far. You can probably use the open end once it's loose, but you may want to torch the nut to get it started, otherwise you take a chance of breaking the stud. OTOH, I thought that Russ mentioned that it was possible to remove those parts with the muffler still in place. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
