When you're in a low gear and bog down a little it makes a grating or scraping noise. => You haven't mentioned any loss of power -- does it feel the same when driving it? I didn't feel any loss of power just the knocking noise getting louder the higher the rpm. Like I said it got me home and still was willing to fire up the next day. I will check to see where the smoke is coming from tonight and report back. My biggest fear is that it threw a rod, but everything that I have been told about that is that the engine ceases as soon as the oil runs out and then runs no more. I'm not noticing any unusual puddles below the car. Just the drips and dribbles that have been par for the course with it. Thank you for your time.
