Then go calculate the mpg. I keep it all in my PDA. I have records for Sophy from 10/2002 til now. I had it from her first tank full after I got it back on the road in February 2002, but lost the early data, including the data from the trip to Parma, in a PDA crash. 8^( Anyway, I average around 24 mpg, with a low of 15.4 and a high of 28.8 for the data that have. I do it for all of my cars. It is a good indicator if somehting is going on with the car. Often before other symptoms show up. >> I also do it the same way as John, except the $/gal, as I normally just log in the $ amount instead. I figure I can always divide the $ amount by the number of gallons to give the $/gal figure. I've been doing this since about 1979, and even got my wife started doing it too. It's a pretty good habit to get into, as it can help keep track of things like oil changes, valve adjustments, fuel filters, tune up items, etc... I do agree, that it does let you know ahead of time if something is amiss. That tank with the low mileage must have been one of those high speed mountainous runs huh? I know going to Hershey I was getting some of the worst fuel economy I ever got with my Notch. Of course the Notch isn't as areodynamic as the Squares I was running with either. I think I averaged 21.5 or something for the entire trip though, so I can't complain. : ) Bob 65 Notch S w/ Sunroof 71 Square, now a 2 seat Roadster, pics can be seen at; http://volksrods.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2977 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
