Re: [T3] Missing cooling tin!

<x-flowed>>> I've known for a while that I am missing that tin on the right, but that
I
have it on the left.

Since I already have my engine apart, and since I managed to find one of
these tin pieces a couple of days ago, today I took off the carb, manifold
and top tin so I could out it in.

You need the early one, which is longer and reaches down below the centerline
of the cylinder.

I believe I have the right part. I will take a photo of it and post it, probably tomorrow.

You probably already know about this, but you seem to be missing the tube that
goes down from the breather box to the oil filler pipe. I can't see whether you
have the correct filler pipe with the nipple that comes up to join that missing
pipe.

I have a really nice breather box waiting to be installed. It does not have a fixture to connect it to the oil filler, and my oil filler doesn't have a nipple to connect to it. My understanding is that there is supposed to be a rubber valve on the end of the pipe. Is it possible that the connection to the oil filler pipe was only on FI cars?

You appear to be missing the two ~1" steel pipes that carry fresh air forward
to the heater mixer boxes to either side of the tranny nose. The hoses for
those are no doubt missing also.

They are missing, as in not on the car, but I do have them waiting to be installed.

You don't show the tin that you removed for the photo, so do you have the
little piece that both spark plug connectors pass thru? That's as important as
the piece that you were missing at the rear. Your SP connectors aren't Bosch,
but they DO have the correct rubber seals to mate to the holes in that tin.

I have some on the way. They will be on the car when I put everything together.

I see at least one spark plug with a dirty insulator, which can let a spark
track down it. Probably no problem in your dry climate, but I'd still wipe it
clean.

Will do.

I can see one nice rubber rear engine mount, but it looks like the space above
the right side of the engine front plate is larger than that on the left. Is it
possible that the engine needs to be moved to the right to get it better
centered?
--

I think the engine mounts came from you, didn't they? I moved the front tin out of the way so I could get the top tin out more easily. Is there some other way I can check the engine orientation; in other words, one which isn't dependent on some bent piece of engine tin?

Thanks,

Daniel
