Maybe they wanted to prevent heat from rising up with the car standing 
still or being turned off to avoid vapor lock in the FI system? Or 
maybe to prevent false readings from those temp sensors that are 
exposed to the engine compartment? Or to prevent rubber/plastic pieces 
from aging more rapidly because of higher heat levels?

Those are the only things I could think of.
