There's also a prevalent idea in the aftermaket VW world that chokes aren't needed anyway, so nobody has bothered figuring out how to make 'em work for our cars. The IDF choke setup is interesting -- instead of reducing the amount of air to richen the mixture (like most carbs do), it lets xtra fuel into the carb. Same effect, different way of accomplishing it. We had a set of IDFs come through the DDB shop last year that still had the chokes, I got the joy of making blockoff plates. I think the choke mechanisms that screw to the carbs are still around.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
