Don't worry I haven't finished messing about with it yet :~)

Even if retarding the timing solves the problem - and I'm curious to see how 
the car performs with by-the-book timing - I will still try advancing the 
timing back to 31 degrees with high-octane petrol, to see whether that works 
too, as it gives me an bit of extra pep.
