[T3] replacing Brake line front to rear

<x-flowed>Hi all,

I'm replacing the brake lines in my 1971 Fastback, but I can't figure out 
the line that runs from front to back.
I've unscrewed both ends of the line, popped loose the rubber thingies that 
plug the holes, then went 'tug!' but nothing happened.
It seems to be clipped somewhere beyond where I can see or feel.

What is the trick for this? Do people just leave the old line and run the 
new line alongside it? Is there a way to get in there?
