I have had problems with the bottom halves of the case not lining up perfectly at the sump plate. I don't know why this can happen, but I've taken to checking that seam with my finger whenever I assemble a case. If there's any noticable step there, I will loosen the case half bolts nearby and then bolt on a sump plate to pull things into alighment, and retighten the bottom case half bolts. The first time I noticed this, I did it to an engine which was already rather broken in. I was worried that moving the case halves would break the sealant that was there, but I was able to improve the leak significantly. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
