What exactly is the clicking by the way? Get a new Bosch 30-019 VR. You probably have a month or so, but you should replace it as soon as possible just because the voltage is now poorly regulated and the relay contacts are welding and breaking (making that noise) and this puts sudden jerks on the generator, belt, and pulley. One of the unexpected consequences of this is an occasional broken gen pulley, which you want to avoid. [Welded contacts put a sudden, and unregulated, tug on the V-belt, forcing it down into the pulley groove. This wedging action eventually fatigues the pulley until one half or the other breaks.] I have new VRs, as well as VRs which I have modified to give longer service life, in case you have trouble finding one locally. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
