The '71 PS MIGHT sort of work, but I wouldn't advise going that way. The only reasonable way to troubleshoot something like this is to work towards putting things right, and introducing more uncertainty at this point just muddies the waters. Here are some other things you should check first: Check your dwell, timing, and valve adjustment. Make SURE the mechanical advance is working. Check the fuel pressure and adjust it if necessary. When you get in the car and turn the key ON, you should hear a relay click, and then, about 1 second later, a second click. Do you hear BOTH clicks? If not, there's a simple fix for this. You will want to have a Bentley manual while you start on this. Get one new from somewhere, or I have some used ones. You might want to check the FI brain to see if your '68 still has the A brain. If it does, then a swap to a B brain would be a good idea, but you should probably replace the PS at that time, too. I have both parts available, and I'll give you something for your old PS since I think I'm going to be able to recalibrate them one of these days. If you were here, I'd run a check on all the FI components with the Bosch FI tester. You can do this with just a VOM, but it takes a lot longer.
