I haven't seen this ad in the midwest yet, but if this is really what it says, then it's pretty sad that they can't even get their facts straight. I paid close to $2500 for my '68, and the prices just went up as the years passed.

I doubt if prices for type 3s in the US were ever as low as $2000.



I just looked at the registration on my '71 FB and it shows $2800. They got that value from VWoA, and that is how they figure license fee's.



That $2000 figure wasn't verbatim from the ad, so I wouldn't ding VW on that. I don't remember what was said in the ad. They might have said $3000 for all I remember- I'll listen more closely next time.

My '73 Fasty's window sticker says $3149 (including destination charges), and the only options it got were 5 radial tires and Blue Leatherette interior. Old guy didn't even spring for the Sapphire XIX AM/FM radio, just the Sapphire XVIII AM radio it came with.
