Keep in mind that the ad probably doesn't say anything about either 
anyone at VW remembering the correct prices or about VW "policy" when 
it comes to vintage cars.

Advertising is thought up by advertising people working at companies 
that get hired to do this stuff. Most of them don't know the facts 
about these old cars from a hole in the ground. They'll just write what 
makes it sound good. No one at VW will take the time to cross-check 
after that.
