Dune buggies have a cooling problem with type 3 engines, in that they generally
suck in hot air at the back of the engine and expect that to "cool" things.
Unless you make some provision to actually provide unheated air, souping up
such and engine will just make things worse.

I was considering the following modifications.

Dual port heads are always better, but you will need to change or modify the
shrouding to clear the new manifolds.

Can be done, and this will still fit in the shrouding.

A very good move, but requires a complete rebuild on a type 3 engine.

No, probably less. There's not much market for type 3 engines.

It is generally easier to get cool air ducted into the intake of a beetle
engine in a buggy.
