Possibly. ;-) I don't really think that putting lots of tension on the cable causes much of a problem, however. I suspect that most of the problems stem from the little dogleg not pivoting smoothly at the front, or from the rear end of the Bowden tube not being inserted in its socket properly at the rear, or from the cable being asked to change directions where it comes out of the Bowden tube, or from the cable being asked to flex at the carb end of things. These problems all boil down to 2 kinds of things: places where the cable is asked to flex sharply, and places where the cable is asked to slide over a sharp corner. In a properly set up system, neither should ever happen. In general, I think it is safe to say that if your throttle cable breaks on you, you should look at the situation in the area where it broke and improve it so that it won't happen again. Actually, I guess that's my attitude toward ALL my repairs: Fix it so that it won't ever suffer this failure again. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
