How many different pushrod versions did VW use over the years? In what ways 
were they different? I'm just guessing, but it would appear that the late ones 
were probably significantly lighter than the style you're looking for, so I 
would think that they would be a significant improvement for an engine that 
might be expected to rev more than average.

Of course, if you're sticking with single port heads, and maybe a single carb, 
this is not a problem.
