The 112 hp wasserboxer is not a 2.3 liter, it is a 2.1 liter just like 
the ones sold in USA. The difference in hp is because the 112 hp version 
does not have a catalytic converter, a different fuel injection system 
and raised compression ratio (different pistons). I have owned two 112 
hp Syncros myself. VW never made any boxer with larger displacement than 
2.1 liter.
