Re: Wasser engine

<x-flowed>As I understand it the type IV and Wasserboxer cases are quite similar. I have a '78 type IV in my Squareback and the stock waterboxer in my '86 Syncro van. The waterboxer is however 112 HP from the factory instead of the 80 or 90 or so of the '78 type IV... wonder if there's enough real interchangeability to beef up a type IV with some stock waterboxer parts, like for instance the fuel injection?
On the engine swap front, has anybody seen a Porsche 911 motor in a Squareback? I saw a nice installation in a Ghia convertible at a show, wondered it if would fit in a Squareback (without raising the decklid).

p.s. aesthetics aside, in my opinion the waterboxer and type IV are just too similar to justify the hassle of putting water cooling in an air-cooled car.

have you ever looked at a water boxer? come now... the generator stand type1, or oil breather are able to bolt to the top, the heads are dual ports (water cooled of course) but have a superflo type intake port... the type 1 oil pump is what is used in the water boxer, the dizzy comes out exactly the same as a type 1... it basically a raised roof , heavy duty case.... the bores being larger , and being able to since there are no fin issues to deal with... just how much water flow between cylinders there is to cool the motor... i mean for god sakes it uses a standard oil plate... I had one laying around for about a year... decided not to water cool an aircooled vehicle... cuase thats just too far into the darkside..... I can get pictures!!! .... so there ...lmao.. (no offense intended in this post... little frustrated)
