I've been working in my engine compartment tonight (removing the old EGR tube, replacing the original and now very brittle breather hoses) and I noticed something a bit strange- oil in my IAD. It's a dark and very carbon-laden coating all over the inside of the IAD. Right now, I'm hoping that it's from a variety of sources: the cyclonic air filter, the fact that the breater tubes from the crankcase vent were a bit kinked and possibly not breathing right, and that the carbon was coming from the EGR. The EGR inlet on the IAD was completely plugged up with carbon bound with oil.
