[T3] Where does this spring belong?

I am embarrassed to say that I do not know where this spring belongs.

I am sure that it comes from the steering column but as it was a long  
time ago when I removed it I have forgotten where it came from. It  
appears to be copper and has a copper top. Can someone tell me where  
it goes?
