Did you find generic grey paper tubes, or were they the alum foil kind? I haven't found anything here that actually lasts very long. I'd love to find something that was durable enough to survive being removed and replaced a few years later.

They are OE quality looking paper/aluminium foil sandwiched concertina'd tubes with black outside, and brown inside- ID 32mm I guess from a bus. They're very high quality and IIRC they were a couple of quid each from GSF over here and had to be cut down to fit.


I like your solution of making the steel tubes larger by using bicycle inner tube. That may also have a significant airflow benefit because you're using a larger hose with a larger ID.

Its more like making the ID of the paper tubes smaller ;-) but same difference. I used the middle support bracket as I didn't want to lose them should they come loose.
