Later Eberspachers (BN2 series) did not require the hole in the tank and ran off a T at the bottom of the tank as well. As an aside Everett has found that the Hupp Perfection units used in Canadian type 3s until 1964 actually drew fuel way back from the engine compartment! They did not have a fuel pump of their own and utilized existing fuel pressure.
