By priming the system, do you mean turning the key until you hear the couple clicks of the pump, but not actually turning the key all the way-so as to engage the starter/turn the engine over? I don't drive my sqbk all the time, and I usually need to do this a few times, I thought of it as getting fuel back to the engine. I never really understood where the fuel went...does it just get sip[honed back into the tank? -Kevin -----Original Message----- From: Constantino Tobio [mailto:ctobio@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, December 05, 2005 12:08 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] Wish me luck! The pump only runs for about a second when you turn the ignition on, and it may not be enough time to build up enough pressure in the supply lines. So, rather than crank and crank away with no result other than draining the battery, priming the system prior to start will help greatly to get it to fire up. My lines sounded empty- the first few spinups of the pump sounded very loud, as if the impeller was encountering no resistance from fluid. This sound changed as the system primed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
