The pump only runs for about a second when you turn the ignition on, and it may not be enough time to build up enough pressure in the supply lines. So, rather than crank and crank away with no result other than draining the battery, priming the system prior to start will help greatly to get it to fire up. My lines sounded empty- the first few spinups of the pump sounded very loud, as if the impeller was encountering no resistance from fluid. This sound changed as the system primed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
