Tried that. I did notice what looked like the reflection of some sparking from under the shifter position indicator.
And NO noise (clunk, whirrr) of any kind from the back of the car?
Have you tried turning the engine over with a wrench on the generator nut, just to make sure it isn't seized up? It should be fine, but it's worth checking.
