Try googling for "Kamm Tail" (with the quotes). I first heard of this concept as "Manx Tail" body shape (as in the Manx cat which has no tail) but I only found 1 article on the whole WWW with this term in it. ISTR the little flip or wing often added at the end of the roof on estates (station wagons) and hot hatches helps separate the airflow and start the turbulence. Usually its this turbulence which swirls dirt onto the rear window. My MkII GTi was *really* bad for this. NB. In no way do I claim to know what I'm talking about here :-) -- Matt. UK.
