Just to make all of you feel a bit better: I drive two cars regularly on the same 40 mile commuting loop. Both have 1600cc air-cooled flat fours. One gets 25-26mpg, the other gets 19-20mpg. The former is a '69 Square with D-Jet. The latter is a '67 Porsche 912 with twin-throat Solexes. The carbs and the short gearing (4000rpm at 70mph) more than overcome the aero advantage. I know people who claim to get 29-30mpg with their 912s on highway trips, but on a day-to-day real world commute with plenty of freeway driving, those carbs really suck. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
