Hubby meant to answer this earlier, but he's outdoors right now working on the ignition switch for his Notch. So I'm sure he'll write more on this later tonight. But, as you get to finer grits of sand paper, you'll want to be hand sanding- hence Dave's comments about "wearing off" your finger prints. You want silky smooth, before you apply the paint. I know he uses sandable primer, so he can get it just right.
