No it will not be OK.

The final drive is between the rear wheels. The two driveshafts come out of 
it. It has a fill plug on the left hand side and a drain plug underneath, 
You need a 17mm Allen wrench to undo the plugs. You fill it with GL5 gear 
oil. If there is ATF in there (red) it is not good and it will need seeing 
to.

I was under the impression you thought it was NOT leaking, despite the fact 
that the ATF is disappearing. If it IS leaking; well, there are about a 
dozen places it can leak from. Is there a puddle of ATF under the car?

What is the vacuum hose on the modulator connected to in the engine? If this 
is either disconnected or not getting enough vacuum, this would cause the 
gearchange to be bad or non-existent.
