Re: [T3] Needed desperately... T3 stuff in Phoenix.

<x-flowed>Sure,
Here's what's up.
1. The PO cut the tin away that ducted the airflow TO the engine.
2. Then he pulled the T3 engine out & put a T1 in there.
3. Next, the vacuum that controls the modulator for the autotranny no longer has the vacuum to shift it, and the mechanic I used tried adjusting bands & VM vacuum to no avail. He says the tranny is toast.
4. The motor needs ductwork. The T1 gets oil temps up past 240 in the Phoenix sun.
5. The oil pressure drops to below 10 & the light comes on when hot. (Has under 3K on "rebuilt SP T1 engine. Condition of rebuild open to debate.)
6. I'm adding a qurt of ATF every 3 weeks, but it isn't leaking out, and its not getting in the VM line. Where's it going? Who knows? No blue smoke. VM line dry inside, no leaks of vacuum, no holes.
7. I can't swap the AT with an Autostick or stick as the mounts are wrong in the car.
8. I need the rear clip's tin. ALL the tin/ducts are gone, along with bumper & apron. Literally, the rear deck stays down with a bungie cord as there is NOTHING there. No bumper, no tail end, just left & right turn signals -- nothing between. Makes it easy to work on the motor, but still too hot. The fresh air flows through the vents & out the back. No flow to the engine.
9. Found bits of metal shavings in the last 2 oil changes (under 1K miles, valves were tight in! Lots of adjusting there! They are already tight again in under 800 miles since last adjust.) Compression tests were 110, 105, 105, 110 (1, 2, 3, 4).
10. Tranny likes to skip 2nd if left in 3rd.
11. Tranny will cause car to "nose dive" as it goes from 1st to 2nd unless I open up the throttle to make hard vacuum. Its like it thinks maybe reverse is a good choice? If I leave it in 3rd, it'll just skip 2nd.
12. I use the brake vacuum to get it to downshift from 3rd to 2nd, and I use reverse to 1st at a red light to get it to shift smoothly into 1st (see #13).
13. Tranny has distinct metallic scrape sound or bang as it shifts, or occasionally will randomly catch into gear while idling in drive at red light and try to drive off. (Its like as if on a stick, someone let off the clutch into 1st.)

That sums up the mess. No tin, wrong engine, bad vacuum off the SP intake with single carb, lots of AT noises, thirsty for ATF, no blue clouds in exhaust. Hmmmm

Does it help anyone?

I'd like to hear more about the problems. It's not often that you'll see simultaneous failure. What's happening?
