That's true, and like Dave mentioned, the dimension may just not be at all 
important with a simplex MC.

The 143.5mm measurement came out of a '66 VW manual--the big one that preceeded 
the Bentley. It would be interesting if that turned out to be about right for 
your '66, but my guess is that they were all about the same, but they only had 
to get picky about it after the tandem MCs came out in '67.

I look forward to hearing what you have in your 2 older cars.
