Re: [T3] Distributor and breather box questions

<x-flowed>I thought there were supposed to be two paper gaskets - one on each side of the baffle. This is how the books show it and how my car was before I took it apart.

These came from the factory with just the metal baffle plate in there. The
baffle plate has a "rolled" edge that crushes and provides a good seal with no
gaskets or sealant. Gasket sets come with one paper gasket and the parts list
shows two paper gaskets.

I should mention that the single paper gasket is probably a remnant from the
early days before the baffle plate was introduced. In those days I suspect that
all they came with was the single paper gasket. But VW introduced the baffle
plate later on and I believe they recommended that it be added to any older
engine that was later torn down or that came in with a complaint of too much
oil misting in the engine compartment.

Every engine should have one now.
