There should be an aluminum baffle plate under the breather stand. Without that baffle, the cam gear throws a lot of oil up into the breather. Item 49 in this illustration. http://classicvw.org/albums/partsbook/crankcase.sized.jpg The washer and spring is 17 and 19 in this one. http://classicvw.org/gallery/partsbook/breather The scrubber is 18. You can us a plastic pot scrubber for #18 especially if this is not a vehicle that is drive in sub-freezing temps. > > As for the breather tubes that I have, one is a steel tube that goes > straight down about 1 foot. Yours should be like #8. The one going down should be OK. The other should go to one of you air cleaners to be recycled into the engine. > > Back on my distributor, I am buying dual Kadron carbs from a place called > AJ Simms at Low Budget.com. http://lowbugget.com/Kadron_carb_page.html > I hae just seen this evening that they offer to tap the carb for the vacuum > advance connection.
