I have had the worst time fixing my generator system. First the red light came on, and I put in a new regulator. This worked for about a week then the red light came back on a low speeds and faded away at very high RPMs. Second, I got new generator(s). This first two didn't have the spacer/collar on the shaft that keeps the pulley from hitting the generator housing. I went to a different place and got a 3rd one which was mechanically correct. Yesterday I installed the new generator and now It doesn't produce any voltage. 0 volts are measured at the 2 poles when I disconnect the D+ and DF wires. So of course my red light comes on when I reconnect the wires to it. So would you say this new/rebuilt generator is no good also? Can anybody help me with this problem? I would really appreciate any thoughts?
