[T3] Updating Sophy's Engine and Trans

<x-flowed>I mentioned in a few of my posts that I was updating Sophys rear subframe and trans and engine for the upcoming driving and show season. Here are a few progress pictures. I am just about ready to put the rear end back in the car.

I POR15'd the subframe and POR 20'd the transmission. All the backing plates, axle tubes, shocks, and stuff got a fresh coat of hi-temp engine enamel. I put in new rear trans mounts since the originals were all squishy with engine oil and had deteriorated quick a bit. You can also see the nice new non-split axle boots that I posted pictures of the install earlier.

I cleaned up the engine and treated most of the engine tin and bits to a fresh coat of hi-temp paint. Won't see many of the painted parts in these progress pics since I haven't got that far yet. You will see my new oil filter bracket. For those present at the engine R&R session in the hotel parking lot in Hershey, you might remember that my oil filter was mounted to the body of the car. This was one more thing that had to be disconnected in order to pull the engine. So, while I had the engine all apart I took a look at improving this.

I ended up heavily modifying a rear engine mount bar to hang the oil filter from. You can see it in this picture.

I had to add a couple of 90 degree elbows due to the new orientation of the filter in order to keep the oil lines nice and straight. I also replaced the oil lines with some braid line. I noticed some abrasion on the red soft lines that I had from Gene Berg. Although with this new set-up I dont thing the lines can hit on anything at all. I am very happy with the end result.

I also threw up a close-up picture of the fittings and how I clearanced the bar for the lines and fittings. This set-up requires no modifications to the magnesium fan housing at all. I noticed in a recent post that the Sandersons had clearanced right through the mag fan housing to get it to fit with more "bug-like" fittings. Matt and Dave....take a look. I found the elbows and stuff at my local Home Depot. Some of the fittings around the pump housing have been clearance (just knocking the corners off basically). All these fittings including the pre-clearanced ones come in the Gene Berg Type 3 kit.

Let me know what you think. I will post more pics as I go along with putting it all back together.
