Re: [T3] Is this my FI problem? Hose routing & oil breather - long waffle!

<x-flowed>> Problem: My new FI engine refuses to idle under 1200rpm.

This is a brand new engine, just broken in. I've converted a carbed car to
run FI (stock 1972 system- dual vac dizzi). I've been all over the car and
done the following:
Set valves up correctly
Set timing correctly. Dizzi also retards and advances the correct amounts
Plugs ok and gapped
Re-done my intake runner gaskets with 2No fibre gaskets - as suggested on
here a week ago
Checked the large runner hoses at throttle body - no leaks
New injector seals used
Checked out the throttle switch and set correctly
Checked resistances of temp switches - ok

It sounds like you are doing everything right. It sounds like you have
some type of vacuum leak. I am thinking aux. air regulator, or the pipe
you describe on the back of the air dist. box. That may be for some
emission control device your don't have.
Can you get any pictures of how things are laid out hose wise. I could
post them on my web site if needed.

Russ
Thanks for the quick response. I don't have any pictures at present, and I think it would be hard to see the hose routes anyway. I'll do my best to describe:

Hose from each rocker cover to twin fittings at 3 o'clock on the air filter
Hose from 7 o'clock on air filter to top of aux air regulator
Hose from aux air regulator to underneath of throttle body by butterfly
Hose from flat rear plate of throttle body to oil breather pipe vent
Dizzi vac and advance pipes from throttle body (I know these are ok)

Oil breather has only one cap, rather than two.
Aux air regulator is ok. I can take of pipe to throttle body and engine will up revs to 2000rpm. Block off pipe and idle remains unchanged.

Got to be that oil breather.........
