I had a second thought on this; there is a work-around. After the muffler is 
installed, you can take the car to a muffler shop and ask them to weld the tube 
that comes up from the muffler right to the male nut that is frozen in the HE. 
As long as they don't weld this to the outside piece (the female thread) then 
you're not ruining anything other than what will be thrown away anyway, once 
the muffler is rusted out.

This is tight work, but some of those muffler guys are pretty good at this.
