[T3] Best way to clean an oil cooler?

I finally have my oil cooler pulled off and I want to clean up some of the
sludge that is covering the oil cooler as well as the engine. Should I use
Gunk to do this or is there a better solvent? Is it safe to use a solvent on
the oil cooler itself?
