Well, I went to get the title transfered on the Ghia, and while standing in line, I noticed that the title said it was a Model 143. I figured it was just a typo at sometime. When I got to the window, I asked if that could be fixed to show Model 343 ? She said yes, but I would have to go to the next window. At the next window, the lady looked under the VW data base on the computer and said there was no Model 343. They do show a 1500 Karmann Ghia, but now that has to be verified by a DMV inspector, and he is on vacation. Luckily I do have the "Kraftfahrzeugbrief" as documentation. Any other owner of a car that has been sitting this long probably would be in trouble. All he will do is match the VIN on the Iowa title against the German title and verify it against the one on the frame, and issue the proper papers. Wish me luck. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
